Umbria is the ideal destination for those who want to rediscover slowness, immerse themselves in nature, and indulge in a true digital detox. Here, among quiet trails and breathtaking views, you can truly unplug and let your steps guide you, rediscovering the beauty of the essential.
Routes for everyone, with variations and freedom of choice
The itineraries I offer are suitable for different experience levels and can be customized based on the time available or individual fitness level. The standard route is approximately 10 km, with a total elevation gain of approximately 450 meters: a walk through woods, ancient abandoned roads, tunnels carved into the rock, and stunning views of the Valnerina.
For those seeking shorter options or wanting to take it even more slowly, there are variants and alternative walks to choose from, all equally evocative.
Trekking always available, even for furry friends
You can request to participate in this trail year-round; there are no limits or restrictions. It’s beautiful in spring with the timid flowers appearing, cool in summer, stunning in autumn with the foliage, and captivating in winter when the colder weather transforms some sections of the trail. You can even share this experience with your dog, as long as he or she is kept on a leash at all times, out of respect for everyone and for safety on the trail.
A journey through history, nature, and human ingenuity
During the walk, you’ll traverse ancient, now almost forgotten, tunnels carved into the rock by hand, and encounter Umbria’s purest waters, the subject of local stories and legends. The route also crosses the famous former Spoleto-Norcia railway, now one of Italy’s most fascinating greenways.
Slow and unhurried experience
It’s not a race, but a journey to be savored at your leisure. The route takes an average of three and a half to four hours to complete, with several scenic stops and moments of relaxation surrounded by greenery.
Departures are flexible: you can choose early in the morning to return in time for lunch, or in the afternoon to enjoy the quiet of the evening.
Each excursion is tailored to the group’s needs, allowing everyone to experience nature at their own pace.
Safety and practical advice
- Hiking shoes are mandatory: the terrain is mixed and challenging in places.
- Headlamp required for tunnel crossing (if you don’t have one, I can provide one).
- There are no drinking fountains along the trail: bring enough water with you.
- Safety always comes first, especially in less well-lit areas.
Outdoors in Valnerina: Beyond Trekking
The Valnerina is a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts: rafting, canoeing, climbing, caving, paragliding, horseback riding, and visits to Romanesque castles and abbeys like San Pietro in Valle. And to complete the experience, don’t miss the typical local cuisine: Norcia PGI prosciutto, black truffle, Nera trout, and many other specialties.
In Umbria, walking means slowing down, breathing deeply, listening to the silence, and turning off your phone to rediscover the pleasure of the little things.

Itineraries for all tastes
Whether you’re looking for a challenging hike or a more relaxed stroll, we can help you choose the best route for you:
- Some trails are longer and offer unforgettable panoramic views, passing through woods, hermitages, and small villages suspended in time.
- Others are perfect for those who prefer shorter walks but don’t want to give up the experience of immersing themselves in the nature and spirituality of the area.
Access with hiking shoes
All itineraries follow mountain trails: to fully experience them, hiking shoes are essential, as the terrain can be rough or steep in some sections. This is precisely the beauty of the trails: they offer authentic experiences, far from mass tourism and in the heart of unspoiled nature.
Maximum flexibility
There’s no single fixed itinerary: the excursion can be tailored to your available time, your fitness level, or simply your preferences. We can decide together whether to include scenic breaks, visits to hermitages, stops at traditional restaurants, or outdoor picnics.
Each day can be different and customized to fit your schedule or the needs of your group.
