A unique experience in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains
Monte Vettore is the highest peak of the Sibillini Mountains, with its 2476 meters high. From here you can admire a breathtaking panorama, which ranges from the surrounding valleys to the Adriatic Sea, passing through the snow-capped peaks of the other mountains. Monte Vettore is also the place where, according to legend, there is the entrance to the kingdom of the Sibyl, a mysterious sorceress who lives in a cave guarded by fantastic animals.
This excursion will take you to discover this enchanted place, following a path of about 4-5 km, with a difference in altitude of 400 meters we will arrive at the first point, the Zilioli Refuge, from here the view is spectacular. We will leave between 7 and 8 in the morning from the pass, located at an altitude of 1530 meters, and we will climb along the path that on one side allows us to see the Pian Grande and Pian Piccolo in the province of Perugia, on the other the Tronto Valley and the province of Ascoli Piceno. Behind us we will leave the Laga Mountains. From the point of arrival we can then try to see Lake Pilate, where the small ‘Chirocefalo del Marchesoni’ (Chirocephalus marchesonii) lives. Technically from the summit of Monte Vettore, you can perfectly see a splendid sunrise! The view at any time of the route is truly spectacular. We will then return to the cars between 12 and 16, depending on our pace and the weather, the return is done on the same route.
The incredible panorama of Monte Vettore
Mount Vettore is the highest peak of the Sibillini Mountains, which are located in the heart of Italy. From there you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire mountain range, which extends between the regions of Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo and Lazio. The view is incredible in every season, but especially in spring, when the meadows are colored with wild flowers, and in winter, when the snow covers the peaks and creates a contrast with the blue sky. Those who reach the top of Mount Vettore can also admire Lake Pilate, a small body of water that hides among the rocks, and which according to legend houses the spirit of Pontius Pilate.

Equipment and materials necessary to carry out the activities
Each participant must have at least one liter of water with them
We will all have to wear trekking boots, much of the route runs along the white path and in some places it is possible to find muddy areas. If it is winter it is best that they are high shoes with ankle coverage. It is not possible to take the walk with trainers/tennis/sneakers.
Also necessary for variable situations (for all daytime excursions, even in winter with snowshoes): sunglasses, hat and windbreaker suitable for rain.
In winter it is normal to have long trousers, but even in summer it is good to use long trousers because, in the most impervious parts of the route, we can encounter tall grass and having long trousers will allow us to better protect our legs also from possible thorns or insects.
From May to September included, always bring a sunscreen with you to prevent sunburn.
To better remember the day, a good camera to immortalize the environment around us is highly recommended.
