Autumn excursions: all the material you need for your excursions between September and autumn
To be able to take part in an excursion between Norcia and the Sibillini Mountains in the autumn period you need to be ready for the unexpected. The days are getting shorter and shorter, but the colors that nature reserves for us in this period are truly infinite.
In this period, rain often occurs, even when the weather conditions say it is unlikely. Unlike the summer period, when a few drops of rain are usually not a problem, between October and April the situation can be different.
First of all, let’s remember to have a waterproof jacket, a k-way or a waterproof poncho in our backpack, it could be indispensable, it could change the outcome of our relaxing day.
Unless otherwise specified, I recommend bringing the following equipment:
- ESSENTIAL: trekking shoes with high ankles (see for example the LA SPORTIVA models), low shoes, often suitable for summer, are not suitable for rain.
- wind/rain jacket, the days can be very rainy
- 1 supply of water of at least 1/2 liter
- a hat, possibly waterproof, is highly recommended.
- waterproof trekking trousers
- sunglasses (even in winter, yes, it can all be very comfortable)
- snack (essential for all activities that last more than 3 hours): a pack of dried fruit could be perfect (it does not perish in the heat or cold)
- spare t-shirt
- a spare pair of socks
Then what to add? We must wear:
- ESSENTIAL:
- long trousers, thermal shirt, sweatshirt and neck warmer
- windbreaker
- let’s not forget to wear thermal socks, if we want to walk we must do so comfortably and the foot must be well protected
- gloves and a wool hat are also essential for snow activities
Inside the backpack it is then necessary to bring with us:
- snack (essential for all activities that last more than 3 hours): a pack of dried fruit could be perfect (it does not perish in the heat or cold)
- 1 bottle of water of at least 1/2 liter + a thermos with a hot drink
- trekking poles to help you and train your arms as well as possible
In many activities I recommend also bringing:
- trekking poles to help you and train your arms as well as possible
- gloves, sweatshirt and thermal band for the cold
