Linee guida per la fioritura: weekend con vincoli di accesso a Castelluccio di Norcia 2026
Partenza dal borgo di Castelluccio
Please note: the route below is a sample and may vary depending on the blooming season, weather, and ideal conditions for viewing the flowers. Therefore, please note that the MEETING POINT and actual itinerary will vary from time to time, depending on many factors. The route is approximately 8-12 km, with an elevation gain of approximately 250-350 m.
The hike begins in the heart of Castelluccio di Norcia, an ancient village surrounded by mountains rising to approximately 2,400 meters. From here, we set off on a well-marked trail that gently climbs to a panoramic viewpoint above the Piangrande, the beating heart of this landscape. In spring, this plateau transforms into a multicolored carpet of flowers, offering a truly evocative spectacle.
The flowering between Piangrande and Pian Perduto
Continuing the hike, you’ll gaze upon the Piangrande, admiring its flower-filled expanses and the surrounding mountains. You’ll then reach a vantage point that will allow you to see what was once the bottom of a lake. The view from this vantage point is truly exceptional, with Mount Redentore (and, behind it, Mount Vettore) overlooking this “little Tibet.”
Immediately afterward, the trail continues, allowing us to see the Fosso dei Mergani, and then continues into a wild valley, where the path is surrounded by woods and rocks. Here, nature reigns supreme, and the silence is broken only by birdsong. We then continue towards Pian Perduto, where the return journey follows a path that descends through a beech forest, offering coolness and shade on the hottest days. We then pass a fountain and continue to observe Pian Perduto, a plateau hidden among the mountains, where the ruins of ancient pastoral settlements can still be seen.

Notes to be respected
- The best time to do this hike is spring, when the fields are in bloom.
- The excursion program is subject to change based on weather conditions. In case of bad weather (since it’s summer, it’s difficult, especially in the afternoon, but not impossible), the excursion will be rescheduled at no cost to the customer.
- Suitable trekking shoes (preferably ankle-high) and mountain-appropriate clothing are ESSENTIAL (even in summer temperatures can drop).
- Portare con sé acqua e cibo e quanto descritto qui cosa portare in escursione in estate)
- Along the way you can only find one water source on the way back.
- Respect the environment and leave no trace of your passage.
What to bring on an excursion
Safety must be our greatest concern and, although in summer there are situations with a lower risk than in winter, we cannot underestimate the mountain environment. Let’s find out together what to bring to the mountains during a summer excursion (both day and night):
- ESSENTIAL ANKLE-HIGH TREKKING SHOES (for mountain excursions and especially for winter excursions)
- a personal water supply of at least 1 litre
- snacks to eat during breaks (dried fruit is perfect)
- spare shirt, spare trekking socks
- trekking poles (some are available for the activities I organize but it is best to book them during the preliminary contact phase)
- sunglasses, hat and neck band
- for excursions above 1500 m above sea level and for all night excursions, also bring gloves, a neck warmer and a bright torch
I also reiterate that you must wear:
- ankle-high shoes;
- technical shirt in contact with the skin, long-sleeved top shirt and windbreaker. If you go on a night excursion, also bring a sweatshirt;
